Whew!  I am exhuasted!  It was a lot of work-always moving, trying to get the right expressions.  I was the second shooter.  Why he trusted me to do that-I do not know.  He constantly gave me asignments and said "go!" and I would have to go get the shots he wanted.  I loved it.  I took more beautiful photos than I have ever taken in my life. He also just gave me free range most of the time to shoot what I wanted to shoot.

I got to use all the best very lenses under the sun.  I could not hold my camera with his huge flash, so went for the sideways/crooked look on a lot of them later in the night(s).  If I set the settings wrong he would simply tell me what I did wrong, so I learned a ton that way as well.

He would occasionally look at my photos and give me a tip on what I was doing wrong with the background or something else-small things that I did not notice.  When I thought it was a great photo and he pointed out the small line here or there in the background that offset the photo.  He is teaching me to be a great photographer. I showed him a friend's site, and said I want to be that good someday, maybe in a year.  He said he could teach me to be that good in the next two weeks.  I made him bet on it, so we'll see.

His other apprentice is going to trade me for assisting at shoots.  I have three of my own scheduled just for next week!

Overall, though, I was scared about the wedding but with his lenses and guidence it was great, not hard at all.

Since we have the same camera we just switched with each other all night depending on if he needed the one with the lens I was using at the moment.  But, going through the photos tonight was so interesting.  We calibrated our camera times to the second, so I could see what he shot while I was shooting something else.  Or we would shoot the same thing at the same moment from different angles.  I learned so much just from that.

Anyways, I will post both galleries when they go up in the next week or so.

Hope this was interesting to someone:)

Sounds like it was great!  What a fabulous opportunity for you to learn!

I rececently did my first wedding (as a second shooter, also).  I used all my own equipment (the other photog is uses Canon).  It was really great, but I wish she'd had the time to look at my shots and give some feedback like you got.
