I would say that I consider myself between levels 3 and 4, more toward the 4, but I need to work on my compositions....I feel very comfortable with the technical aspect however. But I clicked level 3....because I don't know if I am all the way up to level 4.

I agree with Tammi. I say I fall smack dab in the middle b/t options 3 and 4. I don't consider myself a beginner, but certainly don't consider myself a talented photographer. I always say I am an advanced amateur. I feel like I have a decent grasp on the technical basics but I am constantly learning something new and trying to improve as well.

no one else wants to share their level with the rest of us?
I voted #3 (like most people). I have had an SLR in some form or other since I was 18. (about 7 years ) Though when I had film cameras I didn't take so many pictures because the film cost so much to develop. I have had my dSLR for 2 years now and have taken thousands of photos. I know the basics of composition, exposure and such but I haven't had any formal classes. I have done the pictures for a friend's wedding and taken many photos of my son.
Constructive Critism is always welcome. I am here to learn so let me know how I can do better.

I voted #3, I know all the basics and I think I take decent pictures but I'm definitely very new and am far from professional looking.

I would say that I am number 3. I took photography classes back in high school was very avid about it for years. However, I have lost alot of "go to" knowledge and what not in the last several years with the chaos of my life. I know that with a bit of brushing up that it would come back very quickly.

I voted 3 as well.. I know the basics, shoot manual fairly often, but in situations where I'm rushed for time I resort to ap. priority mode because I'm not comfortable with doing it on a quick time frame. I think I'm better on the creative front than the technical front right now if that makes any sense. My goal is to get the technical stuff figured out better so I can get a d300.. I'm determined to "outgrow" my d50 instead of just trading up when I still dont' know everything about my current camera.

I think I'm between 2 and 3. Kind of know the basics, but still very confusing to me. Very slow learner, hard to retain everything. But trying to learn!

Juliet, you're a natural, you'll be an awesome photographer!
I just started 2 weeks ago and now I feel very comfortable with the manual controls already!
Only 2 weeks ago?? You have so many great photos, I assumed you've had a DSLR for ages!
Oh, I've had a DSLR for almost 4 years now, but I've only used the Auto mode. :) Not the same as actually *using* my DSLR!
I voted for #3 as well.

I voted #3 as well. When I was in high school I took a couple photography classes which I really enjoyed and used my brother's slr (he worked in a camera shop so had some great equipment). Until I got my dslr a few weeks ago, I had't done anything other than ap or sp modes for years. Anyway before I became a sahm mom, I was an electrical engineer so I'm very technically oriented and thus the technical aspects are very easy for me to grasp, I do need a lot more shooting time to learn to put it all to use though. I need a lot of help in the composition end though, that part definitely does not come so easy for me!

Ah, I understand! I used to use Av (aperture) all the time, and now I've been trying manual. It's tricky, and I'm not quite fast enough to change the settings, so I'm getting a lot of overexposed and underexposed photos. Plus the kids move too darn fast, in and out of different lighting!
