Yeah, I am such a professional ;) What is that thing called that fits over the top of the lense to help on bright days? How do I use it, when would I use it? Any help would be appreciated. I did a shoot in the mts this weekend, and it was soo sunny, I am afraid I did not get any good shots.

It's called a lens hood. I use mine to prevent sun glare and to keep the glass from getting scratched.

Sadly, I am not joking. I have much to learn about photography. Esp how to spell the word "lens." That is a huge reason why a took an apprenticship that only pays $12.50/hour. But thank you all!
I shoot around kids a lot, so I use them to prevent kids from banging into my lens.
They always come with my lenses, but I store them away and never use them either.

I always use mine, but I take a lot of outdoor shots. I actually bought the ones that you can turn around and 'store' on your lens when you switch lenses.

Yes, I've been using mine alot more too now, in the sun. I have a few that turn around and store on lens, I should see if the rest do that or if I have to purchase them that way.
