I know I ask a million random questions but here is one more.
If you are taking a self portrait is there anyway to focus if your not behind the camera? Here are my unsuccessful attempts...
trying to practice my skills and my dang boyfriend and the dogs won't hold still so I thought I'd try taking some of myself. The only time I got it in focus is when my hand was on the camera (the scary close up)
You can see the shadow of the blinds on my face
Can you tell I'm avoiding working on homework? Seriously though how the heck do you focus if you can't hit the back button? Is it even possible?

focus the camera with you backbutton on something that will be the similar distance your face is going to be. lock your focus turn the camera on yourself- and hit the shutter button. voila.

thanks, that is what I was trying to do but I guess I need something more than just my hand. I was hoping for some magical auto focus setting, but, oh well.
You're not an amateur, I've never figured out how to take in focus self portraits. I've tried to have it focus on something else, but it hasn't worked for me. I figured I needed a remote to get it to focus on me. It's good to hear advice from those that have succeeded at it.
