I'm Suzanne and you guys know me as snowfairy over on thebabywearer :)

okay, I guess that was a lame intro LOL.  Right now I'm shooting with a d50 and for the most part a tamron 17-50 2.8 lens.   I have a zoom lens but it's rarely used :)    My next purchase is a 50mm 1.4 lens which I'm not going to buy until I can pay for it with money I made taking pictures (and since my first paid job was yesterday it might take a little while LOL)  I'm hoping to be able to afford the d300 this year.    I love taking pictures of kiddo's and am branching into product pictures for advertising.  My husband works in real-estate (with builders as a home designer) so I have contacts there for houses and I have something lined up with a local bakery as well.

 Angela (satori on TBW)

I've had a digital camera for over 10 years and a digital SLR for over 3 years, use it almost everyday... as well as Photoshop.

However - only in the past two weeks have I decided to take things to the next level. I've learned so much already and hope to come out with some beautiful photos this month.

I want to try most photography genres - portraiture, landscapes, macro... I'd love to get into HDR, lensbaby, and using Photoshop with my digital images.

We already have a great studio, so I have a great controlled environment. But currently, I'm in a class that is mostly using natural light.

I have a Nikon D80 and will get the Nikon D300 soon. Preparing my list of next lenses to buy...

I'm Tammi. (justpickles on TBW)

HI!

My current setup;  :) I have my gear listed in my sig line, well maybe a little more;  I work for a wedding photographer and I have access to her equipment as well. She's super nice! I have been known to borrow her light kit for months on end. I am a student at a Photography school working on my associates degree in general applied photography. I am thinking of  doing a double major and getting degrees in Portrait Photography and Commercial Photography though, because its so difficult to choose. I feel like I know photoshop reasonably well, as far as photography is concerned, but I've only barely touched what it is capable of.  I HOPE to someday work for a commercial studio, like AGI or something of the sort. I can't say that I want my own studio, because I really don't want to have to market myself. I'd rather work for a company that has huge marketing resources. I LOVE shooting product and working in a commercial studio, but I want to take better pictures of people; that is my ultimate goal right now....but I am about to take Portrait I. I hope to learn a lot in there!

Crystal - that's me on TBW, too.  I just have a digital point and shoot, but want to learn to take better pictures with what I have :)

Melissa here.  I used to be active on TBW, but I no longer am.  I enjoy photography as a hobby and have been shooting with a Nikon d50 for over 2 years now.  I am a minimalist with only 3 lenses....18-200mm VR for everyday usage and the 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 for portraits/low-light.  I also have a SB 800 flash that I like to throw into the mix.  I also love to play around in photoshop and use CS3.

 Welcome everyone!

While I named it DSLR community, it's really mostly about creating beautiful photographs. :) So point-and-shoot, non-digital are also welcome.

Melissa, I think I'm in the same boat as you, weaning off TBW, and only doing photography as a serious hobby. I also think I'll have your same lens/flash setup soon!

I definitely have moved on from TBW a long time ago and I have been pursuing photography for 2 years.  Although I really have slowed down a lot in the past 6 months or so do to the fact that I have NO free time.  For a while I thought I might want to pursue a photography business but I have since changed my mind.  I enjoy photography very much as a hobby but I fear as a business it would become a drag.  I actually really enjoy playing around in photoshop as much.......maybe even a little more than taking photos.  I may try to concentrate on my photoshop and design skills and eventually try to pursue that.

Chelsea (or Che!sea). I have had my Rebel for a couple years now and I am just starting to think about getting a bit more serious and trying to really improve my photography.

You can see some of my photos on Flickr.

Constructive Critism is always welcome. I am here to learn so let me know how I can do better.

I'm Rachel (ilovemyfamily on TBW and here too of course).  I've had a digital camera since 2000 I think.  We've gotten bigger over time and got our DSLR in late 2005.  I really still dont' know how to use it properly unfortunately.  That bugs me because it's such a great camera.  I want to get some great pictures.  I still enjoy taking photographs because they are for us ultimately but I'd love some of them to be something "more", IYKWIM.

I have loved reading and seeing all of the photography stuff on TBW.  It's helped me to know what books to check out and what to try to use my camera to more of it's potential.

For me, it's really taking some time.  I'm so busy all of the time that it feels like I might not ever "get it."

Hi!  I'm Jill (jjcakes) and I have a Rebel Xti that I have had for almost a year now.  Up until maybe two months ago I just shot in portrait mode and was happy with that.  Now I'm trying to learn more so that I can take great pictures of my kids.  I have a 50mm 1.4 that I love but am still struggling with focus!  I want to just learn for a hobby but I started out with that desire for cakes too and ended up selling them for a couple of years!
